If you use PSPlay for the first time you have to register your PS5/ PS4 with PSPlay. The following sections will enlight you about the most important information
Step 1 - Be sure your smartphone and your PlayStation are connected to the same network. Ideally your PS5/ PS4 is using a wired internet connection via a LAN cable to provide best streaming performance.
A remote play app; a steady Wi-Fi connect or a combo of WiFi and wired connection; TL:DR- On the getting in PS4, select 'Remote play'. Press the X button to tick the checkbox to activate it. Next, on hour iPhone or iPad, go to iTunes and download and install Remote Play. If your PS4 logs in your Playstation account, do the same on the app. One PS4 will connect using standard WIFI connected to main router network. The second PS4 will connect wirelessly to the laptop that is using the VPN connection on the same network (essentially using it as a second router). This will assign it a completely different service provider IP address. I’m using ps4 slim all i did was go under settings for ps4 and make it your primary ps4. Then download the remote play app on my laptop. My ps4 is wired to my router while the laptop is not, but both connected to the same network.
Step 2 - In order to activate Remote Play on your PS5/ PS4 you must be logged in with your PSN account on your PS5/ PS4.
On your PS5 navigate to Settings - System - Remote Play and activate 'Enable Remote Play'. Then go to Link Device where you should see the 8 digit registration number.
On your PS4 navigate to Settings - Remote Play Connection Settings and activate the 'Enable Remote Play' checkbox. Then go to Add device where you should see the 8 digit registration number.
Step 3 - Open PSPlay and click the 'Register PS' button. On the next screen you can choose if you want to register a PS5 or a PS4. If you have made your descision you can enter the 8 digit registration number on the next screen. If you want to register a PS4 with an older firmware you can choose the firmware of your PS4 in the drop-down list. If you do not know what that means just leave the default values. PSPlay supports PS4 firmware from 5.05 - 8.03+. If you are ready Click the 'Register' button on the bottom of the screen.
Step 4 - You will now see the official Sony account website. At this point you must sign in to your PSN account which you want to use for Remote Play. If you do not want to sign in you can also activate the 'Register PS4 manually' checkbox in the previous screen. However since the PS4 firmware 7.0 Sony requires the Account-ID for the registration process which is unique number linked to your PSN-Account. If you do not know it by heart your only option is to continue with the sign in process. If you use an older firmware than 7.0 you can just use your well known Online-ID (Your PSN user name) during the manual registration process
Disclaimer from the developer: I know providing your account details seems to be shady and I wished there would be another method to get the Account-ID but unfortunately there is no other easy way. However, PSPlay just opens the official PSN Log-In website from Sony and there is no technical way that PSPlay could in any way intercept, monitor or modify the data you have entered there. PSPlay only receives some generic profile information as response from the official Sony server and only the Account-ID and the Online-ID will be stored locally on your device. If really want to avoid using PSN read this. If you have some additional questions feel free to contact me at f.grill160@gmail.com.
Step 5 - If the registration was successful you will be redirected to the Home screen of PSPlay where you can now choose to 'Connect' or 'Direct Connect' to your PS5/ PS4. If you received an error please go to Troubleshooting
This has been a question that has been around since the feature first launched and will likely remain something that will be an issue for a lot of people in the future. Remote play is running slow and you want a way to make PS4 remote play faster. Like any network related issue, this one can have a large number of causes and solutions. In this guide, I will try to give a few useful tips to know about when you are trying to sleep up remote play and make the connection faster.
The first thing you need to know with the speed of remote play is that its slow in general. Even when it’s working at 100% peak performance, there can still be some lag. Particularly with the PS TV. Getting a perfect, full speed, real-time response from the remote play feature is not something I was ever able to achieve on the vita or PS TV, but I was able to get some good results by taking the following steps.
I apologize for the lack of a concrete answer here. Depending on the location of your PS4 and router, it may be faster to choose one over the other. To make this worse, it can even vary from within the house. For example, my PS4 is upstairs. When I am downstairs it’s faster to connect via the internet, when upstairs its faster to connect directly. It is annoying as hell if you move around the house, but it is the price to pay. You can set this setting in the remote play section of the settings.
This, of course, doesn’t apply to the vita, but if you are using a PC or the PS TV, you will likely have the ability to use a wired connection to connect directly to the network. A wired connection is always faster and more reliable than a WiFi connection. The same is the case for the PS4. If you have the option, connect the PS4 to the network using a wired connection to make there is one less signal to worry about.
If you are unable to use a wired connection, there are some things you can do to boost the wireless connection. WiFi signals sort of work like sound waves, they bounce off walls easier than they travel through them.
So, yes, all games support remote play, but this is built in support on the operating system level. There is, however, the option for developers to add dedicated support for remote play. In most cases that I have seen, this will do great things for the performance. With all of the same variables, the performance can improve massively if you are playing a game that has dedicated remote play support. This is, of course, nothing you can control, but it is a good piece of information to know if you are doing everything you can and it isn’t improving performance.
