I went in to a MAC store recently to trial the Smoked Purple lipstick and see if the colour was the kind of purple I could get on board with. Long story short; it wasn’t, but I did make two other discoveries.
The first is that I’m an NC20. I always thought I’d be an NW15 but there you are. The lovely woman that assisted me gave me a little sample pot of MAC Mineralize foundation to try out and I think it’ll be in my next online MAC order.

The second great discovery I made was this magenta lip pencil.
I was excited to try this one out because I’ve been finding lately that some of my lipsticks are not fuschia enough. In other words, I think all my lipsticks should just become OCC’s “Hoochie”. Although it’s not terribly exciting, I layered this one up with another MAC lipstick (I cannot remember which one exactly but I feel like it may have been Rebel) and loved the more-magenta-than-usual result.
The colour of the lip pencil alone is like a slightly more violet kind of Girl About Town colour, which has given me ideas about layering Girl About Town with some of my other lipsticks.
I was very impressed with this pencil and have now got my eye on more of them (namely “Vino”). The texture of the pencil itself is just al-dente enough to get a sharp line, and just soft enough so that it spreads well.
If you’ll excuse my thinking wrinkle, I recently wore the lip pencil with Heroine and a blue floral dress. I loved the colours together and am going to try mixing more lip pencils and colours to create custom looks.
Have you tried the MAC lip pencils? What did you think?
